Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay on December 25

************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (December 23) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay this Saturday (December 25) to facilitate the holding of a football match at the Hong Kong Stadium.
The special arrangements will mainly include:

* From about 12.30pm onwards, a section of Caroline Hill Road between Leighton Road and Cotton Path, and a section of Hysan Avenue westbound between Sunning Road and Hoi Ping Road will be closed.

* From about 6pm, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road, Link Road northbound, Hoi Ping Road and Leighton Road will be closed to facilitate the dispersal of spectators, until crowds disperse and road closures are lifted.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus Route 5B, Green Minibus Routes 14M, 26 and 30, and Residents' Service Route HR51 will be temporarily diverted.

* From about 5.30pm, franchised buses of Cross Harbour Route 117R (Hong Kong Stadium to Mong Kok) will be operational.

* On-street car parking spaces and carparks within the affected areas will be suspended.

The TD anticipates that traffic in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay will be congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow police instructions. People planning to go to the affected areas are advised to make use of public transport as far as possible.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and will implement appropriate measures as necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the department's website (www.td.gov.hk).
