Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay on Sunday

     The Transport Department (TD) today (January 20) reminds the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay on Sunday (January 23) to facilitate the holding of a religious event at the Hong Kong Stadium.

     The special traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:

* From about 12.30pm, a section of Caroline Hill Road between Leighton Road and Cotton Path, and a section of Hysan Avenue westbound between Sunning Road and Hoi Ping Road will be closed.

* From about 4.45pm, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road, Link Road northbound, Hoi Ping Road and Leighton Road will be closed to facilitate the dispersal of spectators, until crowd disperses and road closures are lifted.

* During the period of road closures, several franchised bus, Green Minibus (GMB) and residents' service routes will be temporarily diverted.  Affected routes include:

Franchised bus       5B, 23B, 37A, 75, 90, 97, 590A,
                     601, 680, 690 and 914
GMB                  14M, 26 and 30
Residents' service   HR51

* From about 4.15pm, franchised buses of Cross Harbour Route 117R (Hong Kong Stadium to Mong Kok) will operate.
* On-street car parking spaces and car parks within the affected areas will be suspended.

     The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of the Hong Kong Stadium will be significantly congested.  Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police.  People planning to go to the affected area are advised to make use of public transport as far as possible.

     The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary.  Motorists and the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
