Lok Ma Chau night crossing restrictions eased

The Transport Department says that from October 8 private cars with Man Kam To and/or Sha Tau Kok Closed Road Permits will be allowed to use Lok Ma Chau Crossing from midnight to 6.30am.

Currently, private cars with these permits are not permitted to cross the boundary via Lok Ma Chau at any time.

The trial scheme will mean better utilisation of boundary resources and speedier cross-boundary traffic and passenger flow.

However, private car owners with Closed Road Permits for Man Kam To and/or Sha Tau Kok Crossing are required to complete all appropriate applications for Mainland authorities before using the Lok Ma Chau Crossing during the period.

The private cars concerned will be allowed to use the Lok Ma Chau Crossing only during the permitted hours. Non-compliance will be subject to prosecution.
