Special traffic and transport arrangements for Oct. 1 Flag Raising, Fireworks

The Transport Department will implement special traffic and transport measures for the Flag Raising Ceremony and National Day fireworks display on Wednesday, October 1. Public transport services will also be subject to special arrangements.

Expo Drive, Expo Drive Central and Expo Drive East will be closed to all vehicular traffic, except authorised vehicles, from 6.45am to 10am on October 1.

The bus terminus, taxi stand and coach metered parking spaces on Expo Drive East will be suspended from 7am to 1pm on September 30 and from 6am to 11.59pm on October 1. The bus terminus affected will be relocated.

The taxi stand and general loading/unloading bays at Wan Chai Ferry Pier Public Transport Interchange will be suspended from 6.45am to 11.59pm on October 1.

On Hong Kong Island, temporary road closures will be implemented starting at 8pm in The Peak area, Central, Wan Chai north and Wan Chai south. The roads will be reopened when Police determine that conditions are safe.

In Kowloon, some sections of road in Tsim Sha Tsui and Jordan will be closed or subject to traffic diversions in five phases starting at 6pm.

MTR train service will be increased from 7pm to 11.30pm as follows:

Headway

1. Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line, 3 minutes

Kwun Tong Line and

Tseung Kwan O Line

2. Tung Chung Line, between 5 minutes

Hong Kong and Tsing Yi

The frequency of KCRC train services between Hung Hom and Sheung Shui will be increased from 5 minutes to 4 minutes from 9.30pm to 11pm.

Trams and Peak Tram services will be increased to meet passenger demand if necessary.

On the Central to Mid-levels Escalator and Walkway System, service on October 1 will be extended to 1am on the following morning.

Suspension and relocation of bus terminuses/stops, suspension of bus service, special bus service, extension of operating hours, route diversion and enhancement of service will be implemented by bus companies.

Suspension and relocation of stands and route diversion will be implemented by public light bus (scheduled) companies.

Ferry companies will suspend some ferry services, cancel some sailings or strengthen and alter some sailings.
