Motorists reminded restricted use of Ma Wan Road

Transport Department (TD) today (August 11) reminded motorists that Ma Wan Road has been designated a 24-hour prohibited zone since December 14, 2002 and no vehicles are allowed into Ma Wan Road except for goods vehicles between 10 am and 4 pm daily and those vehicles with permits issued by the Commissioner for Transport.

A TD spokesman said the Tsing Ma Control Area (General) Regulation also stipulated that no person was allowed to board or alight from a vehicle on Ma Wan Road. Vehicles were also prohibited from stopping or being stationary on Ma Wan Road.

"Now there are still some motorists entering Ma Wan Road without authorized permits. Motorists are reminded that enforcement action will be taken against those who fail to comply with the above regulations," a spokesman for TD said.
