The Transport Department (TD) today (December 21) reminded the public that some traffic lanes on Des Voeux Road West and Hill Road will be temporarily closed from this Saturday (December 22) to December 28 (Friday) to facilitate tram track renewal works.

Lane closures and a ban on turning movements will be implemented from 10.30am this Saturday to 10.30am on December 28. All vehicles exceeding 7 metres in length travelling northbound on Hill Road will be prohibited from turning right onto Des Voeux Road West eastbound. Affected vehicles may take the alternative route via Connaught Road West eastbound and Ka On Street southbound to Des Voeux Road West eastbound or via Queen's Road West westbound and Kennedy Town Praya northbound to Des Voeux Road West eastbound.

Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists are advised exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. Members of the public planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. The public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

Details of the special traffic arrangements are now available on the department's website (www.td.gov.hk).
