Special traffic arrangements at Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery

The Transport Department today (March 21) reminded grave sweepers that the access road leading to the Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery will be closed by the Police to all vehicular traffic including KMB special bus route No. 14S, with the exception of emergency vehicles, from 5.30am to 8pm daily on March 24 and 31 and April 4 (Ching Ming Festival) and 7.

During the period of full road closure, grave sweepers can go to Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery on foot via the access road on Ko Chiu Road or via the BMCPC Footpath which is opposite the MTR Tiu Keng Leng Station. As there are steps on the BMCPC Footpath, grave sweepers using wheelchairs should use Ko Chiu Road to access the cemetery.

In addition, general road closure will be implemented from 5.30am to 6pm daily on March 23, 29 and 30; April 1, 6, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28; and May 1. On these general closure days, KMB's special bus route No. 14S will run from 7am to 5.25pm between Lei Yue Mun Road, Yau Tong and the cemetery. Apart from KMB special bus route No. 14S, emergency vehicles, hearses, vehicles in funeral processions and vehicles possessing a permit issued by the cemetery, all vehicles are prohibited from using the access road leading to the cemetery.

The Transport Department appealed to the public to make full use of public transport, avoid going to the cemetery on busy days and follow the instructions of the Police or other personnel on duty. If members of the public are going to take KMB route No. 14S, they should be aware of the dates of the general road closure.
