Temporary traffic and transport arrangements for Central-Wan Chai Bypass construction work in Wan Chai North from Saturday

The Transport Department (TD) today (September 18) reminded the public that temporary traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Wan Chai North starting from 11pm this Saturday (September 20) to facilitate construction work on the Central-Wan Chai Bypass.

The temporary traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:

(I) From 11pm on September 20 to 6.30am on September 21

Road closure
------------

Hung Hing Road flyover will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic.

Traffic diversion
-----------------

1. Vehicles on Fenwick Pier Street eastbound heading for North Point or Kowloon East will be diverted via Harbour Road eastbound, Fleming Road northbound, U-turn slip road, Fleming Road southbound, Gloucester Road eastbound and Victoria Park Road eastbound;

2. Vehicles on Convention Avenue eastbound heading for North Point or Kowloon East will be diverted via Expo Drive East northbound, Expo Drive East southbound, Fleming Road southbound, Gloucester Road eastbound and Victoria Park Road eastbound; and

3. Vehicles on Hung Hing Road eastbound heading for North Point or Kowloon East will be diverted via Wan Shing Street, Wan Ying Street, Marsh Road northbound, Hung Hing Road westbound, Convention Avenue westbound, Fleming Road southbound, Gloucester Road eastbound and Victoria Park Road eastbound.

Public transport services

A total of five bus routes operating in the affected areas will be temporarily diverted. The bus companies concerned will arrange publicity to inform passengers of the temporary arrangements.

(II) From 6.30am on September 21 until further notice

Road closure
------------

The section of Hung Hing Road flyover from its junction with Wan Shing Street to a point about 90 metres east of the same junction will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic.

Opening of temporary road
-------------------------

A temporary road connecting Hung Hing Road eastbound and Hung Hing Road flyover will be open for public use.

Appropriate traffic signs and road markings will be erected on site to guide motorists. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow police instructions.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
