Fee adjustment for vehicle examination services

The Transport Department (TD) today (November 30) reminded members of the public that the fees for vehicle examination services will be revised on December 7, 2015 as follows:

Government fees for vehicle examinations:

* Motor cycle or motor tricycle - $350
* Private car - $585
* Taxi - $585
* Goods vehicle or special purpose vehicle not exceeding 5.5 tonnes permitted gross vehicle weight - $695
* Goods vehicle or special purpose vehicle exceeding 5.5 tonnes permitted gross vehicle weight - $935
* Light bus - $695
* Single-decked bus - $935
* Double-decked bus - $1,050
* Trailer (other than a trailer towed by a private car) - $585

Fees to be charged by designated car testing centres in respect of an examination:

Initial examination-
* Private car - $585
* Light goods vehicle - $695
Re-examination where made in 14 days of initial examination-
* Private car - $180
* Light goods vehicle - $230
Issue of a duplicate copy of a certificate of roadworthiness-
* Private car - $180
* Light goods vehicle - $230

A TD spokesman said that the Legislative Council Panel on Transport was consulted on the proposed revision of fees and charges in February 2015. The Road Traffic Ordinance (Amendment of Schedule 3) (No. 2) Order 2015 and Road Traffic Ordinance (Amendment of Schedule 8) Order 2015, which set out the revised fees, have been passed by the Legislative Council.
