Application for cross-boundary coach service invited

The Transport Department is inviting operators to apply for the provision of cross-boundary coach service between Hong Kong and the mainland via Lok Ma Chau and Sha Tau Kok Crossing Points.

"Given the cross-boundary nature of the coach service, joint operation by companies from Hong Kong and the mainland is required and all applications will be vetted and operators selected by both Hong Kong and Gangdong authorities," said a spokesman for the Transport Department.

Applications should be submitted in writing with the following information provided in details:

* Applicant's personal particulars, including name, identity document, address and contact number, or information about company registration and name of contact person(s);
* Description of the nature of the service, number and type of vehicles to be used, seating capacity, and position of steering-wheel;
* The proposed number of daily trips between Hong Kong and the mainland, name of the crossing point and the time to cross it, detailed routeing and terminal facilities on the Hong Kong side;
* Relevant experience in operating similar transport services;
* Operational arrangements between the companies in partnership including the names and addresses of the companies in Hong Kong and on the mainland; and
* Approval documents issued by accredited mainland authorities for providing cross-boundary coach service.

The spokesman reminded applicants that owing to the busy traffic conditions at Lok Ma Chau and Sha Tau Kok, the crossing time allocated might not be the same as the applied and coaches would only be allowed to cross border via Lok Ma Chau after 10 am everyday.

No application fee is required. In order to facilitate the vetting process, applications should be submitted in person or by post simultaneously to the Public Vehicles Section, Licensing Division of the Transport Department on third floor, United Centre, 95 Queensway, Hong Kong and the Country Port of People's Government of Shenzhen Port Office at Room 503, No. 10, Fu Tian South Road, Shenzhen (Postal Code 518045) before November 9 (Tuesday).

Applicants who have submitted applications in the past should re-apply in accordance with the above-mentioned procedures.
