Telecoms contract for CCTV system goes to PCCW-HKT

The Transport Department today (April 9) awarded a $28 million contract to PCCW-HKT Telephone Limited for the provision and lease of telecommunication circuits for the operation of the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) system for Tai Po and North District.

The contractor will be responsible for the design, supply, installation and commissioning, and subsequent five-year lease of telecommunication circuits for the operation of the CCTV system for Tai Po and North District. The contract starts on April 9, 2003 for a construction period of seven months. The consultant for the design and works supervision of the contract is Hyder Maunsell Joint Venture.

To complement the Area Traffic Control (ATC) system which is scheduled for operation in 2004 in Tai Po and North District, a CCTV system comprising 30 cameras located in the area is being introduced. The telecommunication circuits are mainly required for the transmission of the CCTV video images to the control centre of the Transport Department.
