Bus stops at Castle Peak Road to be re-arranged on Sunday

Five bus stops at Castle Peak Road will be re-arranged on Sunday (October 17) to further enhance the efficiency of bus services and to smooth traffic flow.

At present, the bus stop at Castle Peak Road (Tsuen Wan) westbound outside Fuk Loi Estate serves a total of 32 routes.

Under the new arrangement, bus routes 52M, 53, 57M, 58M, 58P, 59A, 60, 63M, 66, 66P, 67M, 68A, 69M, 234A, 234B, 235, 251M, 261M, 263R and 868 will no longer pick up or drop off passengers at this bus stop.

"We anticipate that the re-arrangement will help reduce the number of bus stoppings at Castle Peak Road (Tsuen Wan) westbound by about 55 per cent from 232 times in a peak hour to 104 times," a spokesman for the department said.

As regards the remaining bus stops at Castle Peak Road (Yuen Long), the two bus stops at Castle Peak Road (Yuen Long) eastbound near Yuen Long Plaza and Kar Lai Wah Restaurant will not serve bus routes 53, 63M and 68X.

Furthermore, the two bus stops, one for routes 53 and 63M at Castle Peak Road (Yuen Long) westbound near Chow Sang Sang Goldsmith and the other for routes 68M and 968 at Castle Peak Road (Yuen Long) westbound near Yuen Long Mansion, will be cancelled.

The spokesman said: "After the rationalisation, bus stoppings at Castle Peak Road (Yuen Long) in a peak hour will be reduced by 10 per cent from 637 times to 574 times."

He appealed to passengers to pay attention to the new arrangement.

"Notices will be put up at bus stops and inside buses concerned to advise passengers.

"We will keep a close watch on the traffic condition and make adjustments when the situation warrants," he added.
