Scrapping Incentive Scheme expires in end September

The Transport Department (TD) today (July 26) reminded car owners that the Scrapping Incentive Scheme would expire on September 30, 2002.

The Scheme allows owners of private cars aged 10 years or more who scrap their cars and replace them with new ones to enjoy a reduction in the First Registration Tax.

Eligible car owners who would like to join the scheme should have their old cars scrapped and apply for de-registration of the old cars on or before September 30, 2002. All applications should be submitted to the TD's Hong Kong Licensing Office on 3rd Floor, United Centre, 95 Queensway, Hong Kong.

A guideline detailing the procedures for application is available at the TD's licensing offices. The guideline is also available on the TD's website www.info.gov.hk/td.
