Part-time pedestrian scheme in Temple Street and Nanking Street

Transport Department today (July 22) announces that a part-time pedestrian scheme on trial will be implemented on Temple Street and Nanking Street in Jordan with effect from tomorrow (July 23) for three months.

The following road sections will be designated a prohibited zone to facilitate the implementation of part-time pedestrian scheme from 2 pm to midnight daily:

* the section of Temple Street between Kansu Street and Jordon Road; and
* the section of Nanking Street between Shanghai Street and Woosung Street.

During the period of road closure, motorists on Woosung Street heading for Shanghai Street should travel via Ning Po Street, while motorists on Nanking Street heading for Shanghai Street should travel via Parkes Street, Saigon Street, Woosung Street and Ning Po Street.

The existing metered parking spaces in the section of Temple Street between Saigon Street and Jordon Road will be cancelled. The public light bus stand on Temple Street between Nanking Street and Jordon Road will be relocated to Shanghai Street between Ning Po Street and Jordon Road.

Transport Department will evaluate the effectiveness of the scheme after the trial period to decide if it will be implemented permanently.

Appropriate traffic aids will be provided at the scene to guide motorists.
