Special traffic and transport arrangements during Ching Ming Festival

Special traffic and transport arrangements will be in effect around major cemeteries before, during and after the Ching Ming Festival, which falls this year on April 5.

To prevent over-crowding, the Transport Department urges grave-sweepers to avoid visiting cemeteries if possible on the exact day of the Ching Ming Festival, and to make use of public transport and follow the instructions of the Police.

A. Hong Kong Island

Road closures and diversions and special bus, light bus and tram arrangements will be implemented as Police consider necessary in the Chai Wan, Pok Fu Lam, Central, Aberdeen and Happy Valley areas from 6.00am to 6.00pm on March 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30, April 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and May 1 and 4.

B. Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery

The access road leading to Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery will be closed to general vehicular traffic on March 16, 22, 23, 29, 30 and April 5, 6, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 21, 27. Only emergency vehicles, hearses, vehicles taking part in funeral processions and vehicles with valid entry permits will be allowed access.

A KMB Special Route No. 14S will operate between the bus stop on Lei Yue Mun Road eastbound east of St. Antonius Girls' School and Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery between 7.00am and 5.25pm during the road closure period on the aforementioned dates, EXCEPT April 5 and 6 (Ching Ming Festival Day and the first Sunday after Ching Ming Festival Day).

C. Sha Tin

Partial road closures will be in effect on March 29 and 30 and April 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20 and 21 from 7.00am to 6.00pm.
