Yau Tong MTR Station opens tomorrow

The Transport Department (TD) today (August 3) reminds cross-harbour passengers on MTR Kwun Tong Line to change at Yau Tong Station to and from Hong Kong Island from tomorrow (August 4), when the station opens for service, and allow more time in making their journeys to avoid last minute rush.

A TD's spokesman said: "Feeder transport services for Yau Tong MTR Station is in operation from today (August 3), one day before the opening date, to familiarize passengers with the interchanging arrangements. From August 3, KMB route 216M will be extended to serve Yau Tong Station with the nearest stop set up on westbound Lei Yue Mun Road outside Lei Yue Mun Plaza."

The following new Green Minibus (GMB) feeder services will also start operation today (August 3):

* route 23C, plying between Laguna City (Sin Fat Road) and Yau Tong Station (Cha Kwo Ling Road); and * route 63M, plying between Kwong Tin Estate and Yau Tong Station (Lei Yue Mun Road).

Upon the opening of Yau Tong Station on August 4, GMB route 24M will be truncated to provide linkage between Sam Ka Tsuen Ferry and Yau Tong Station.

Notices would be displayed at all bus stops and GMB stops along the routes of the above services for passengers' reference. Bus companies will send their regulators be on site to give guidance to bus passengers.

To publicise the Public Transport Plan (PT Plan) for the Tseung Kwan O area in view of the opening of the MTR Tseung Kwan O line, TD has published and mailed to residents of Sai Kung, Tseung Kwan O and Yau Tong areas a booklet with handy information on changes to public transport services, made publicity through television broadcast on buses and MTR's trackside motion systems, set up a special hotline for enquiries and update its website for the latest information of the PT Plan.

The Department's Emergency Transport Co-ordination Centre will be activated on August 4, 5, 18 and 19 respectively to closely monitor the service levels of the public transport services upon and after the commissioning of the MTR Yau Tong station and Tseung Kwan O line. On-site observations at various bus stops and termini will also be conducted.
