Traffic around the container port in Kwai Chung

The Transport Department (TD) today (September 13) announces that since traffic around the container port in Kwai Chung is still busy in the afternoon, motorists are advised to avoid travelling to the area unless it is absolutely necessary.

A spokesman for TD appeals to commuters heading for Tsuen Wan and Tsing Yi to make use of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR), while those for Tuen Mun and Yuen Long to make use of MTR or East Rail, and change to buses.

Various Government departments, including the Police and Kwai Tsing District Office have been closely monitoring the situation and Police have deployed their officers to regulate traffic in the vicinity of the container port and the adjacent areas, the spokesman added.

Members of the public are advised to pay attention to radio or TV announcements on the latest traffic conditions.
