Traffic around the container port in Kwai Chung

The Transport Department (TD) announces that since traffic around the container port in Kwai Chung is very busy in the afternoon, motorists are advised to avoid travelling to the area unless it is absolutely necessary.

A spokesman for TD appeals to commuters heading for Tsuen Wan and Tsing Yi to make use of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR), while those for Tuen Mun and Yuen Long to make use of railways or East Rail, and change to buses.

Motorists should avoid using the New Territories bound of Cheung Sha Wan Road and Lai Chi Kok Road, and are advised to make use of Ching Cheung Road and West Kowloon Highway.

The spokesman said traffic at container port had been busy since this (September 12) morning after cancelling of all tropical cyclone warning signals.

Various Government departments, including the Police and Kwai Tsing District Office have been closely monitoring the situation and Police have deployed their officers to regulate traffic in the vicinity of the container port and the adjacent areas, the spokesman added.

Members of the public are advised to pay attention to radio or TV announcements on the latest traffic conditions.
