Special traffic and transport arrangements for international cycling race

Special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented to facilitate the 9th Tour of South China Sea International Cycling Race in Hong Kong, Kowloon and Tsing Yi on Sunday (December 26, 2004).

En-route traffic may be delayed, so people heading to the airport should reserve sufficient travel time and listen to the radio for the latest traffic news. Motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience in cases of traffic congestion and take heed of police instructions.

Temporary traffic and transport arrangements on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon will be implemented from about 8am until the roads are re-opened for normal traffic:

* The two rightmost traffic lanes or the entire westbound carriageway of Expo Drive, Convention Avenue, Fenwick Pier Street, Fenwick Pier Street flyover, Harcourt Road, Harcourt Road flyover, Connaught Road Central, Rumsey Street flyover, Western Harbour Crossing northbound, West Kowloon Highway northbound and Tsing Kwai Highway northbound will be closed.
* Traffic along the above roads may be affected during the period of road/lane closure. Drivers may consider using alternative routeings in lieu of the above roads, and,
* Temporary diversion of 5 bus routes (CityBus Nos. A12, NWFB 18, 18P, 43X, 46X) and 1 green minibus route (No. 54). There will also be associated temporary relocation or suspension of bus stops.

Temporary traffic and transport arrangements in Tsing Yi will be implemented from about 7.30am until the roads are re-opened for normal traffic.

* Temporary lane closure and traffic diversion at Ching Hong Road westbound; Tsing Yi Road West southbound section between Ching Hong Road and Tsing Yi Road; Tsing Yi Road northbound linking Ching Hong Road westbound and Tsing Yi Road West southbound; the whole section of Tsing Yi Road from its junction with Ching Hong Hong to its cul-de-sac and the whole section of Sai Shan Road.
* Temporary diversion of 17 bus routes (KMB Nos. 41, 42, 42A, 42C, 43, 43A, 43B, 43C, 243M, 249M, 264M and 279X, Long Win Bus Nos. A31, E31, E32 and E42, CityBus No. E21) and 8 green minibus routes (Nos. 88A, 88B, 88C, 88D, 88F, 88M, 405 and 405A), and,
* Temporary relocation or suspension of associated bus stops and green minibus stands.

Actual implementation of the road closure, traffic and public transport diversions will be made by the Police at the time depending on conditions in the areas.
