Driving Improvement Course launched

The Transport Department today (September 6) announced the launch of the Driver Improvement Scheme with the first driving improvement course commencing on September 9, 2002.

Speaking at a press briefing, the Assistant Commissioner for Transport, Ms Amy Chow, said: "The Driver Improvement Scheme aims to encourage drivers to attend to the problems of their driving behaviour and attitudes and make necessary corrections with a view to enhancing road safety.

"Participants who have completed the course with satisfactory performance would be issued with a course certificate and three driving-offence points would be deducted from their total number of points incurred on the date of completion of course."

Interested persons may enroll with any one of the four driving improvement schools designated by the Transport Department for the provision of the course. (Details of the schools are at Annex below). Course fees range from [HK$670 to HK$830].
