Route change on cross harbour route no. 690 and its supplementary service 690P from September 9

The Transport Department (TD) today (September 5) announced the route changes on cross harbour route 690 (Hong Sing Garden - Macau Ferry) and its supplementary service route 690P (Hong Sing Garden - Macau Ferry) and service termination of 690P (Po Lam Public Transport Interchange - Macau Ferry) to be implemented next Monday (September 9).

A spokesman for the department said: "Since about 80 per cent of Tseung Kwan O (TKO) residents are within walking distance to TKO Line stations, the need for taking bus services from TKO has reduced."

"It is observed that more bus passengers of cross harbour routes have switched to use MTR since the commissioning of MTR TKO Line in August. About 50 to 70 per cent of passengers for cross harbour routes have made the mode shift at peak hours in the past few weeks," he added.

From Monday (September 9), cross harbour route 690 and supplementary route 690P (Hong Sing Garden - Macau Ferry) will follow the routeing via Pedder Street to terminate at Exchange Square. Its fare will be $12.8 with a shorter journey distance. At the same time, supplementary route 690P (Po Lam Public Transport Interchange - Macau Ferry) will be discontinued because of the substantial passenger diversion to the rail. Passengers may take route 690 to Hong Kong Island.

Notices will be put up at all bus stops along the route for passengers' information. Regulators will be on site to give guidance to passengers if necessary.

Residents can approach TD on telephone number 1878 218, KMB on 2745 4466 or Citybus on 2873 0818 for bus route information.
