New arrangements for driving test for light goods vehicles

The Transport Department announces that with effect from February 8, 2000, the second part of the driving test for Light Goods Vehicles (LGV) will become a combined test of Part B (basic maneuver test) and Part C (road test).

A spokesman of the department said under the new arrangement, candidates who pass either part of the combined test could retain the successful result and apply for a test for the failed part.

Those who pass both parts of the combined test may apply for their full driving licences five working days after the day of pass.

The requirement for candidates to pass Part A (written test) before they can apply for the other parts of the test remains unchanged.
