Normal ferry services after takeover

Normal ferry services were operated on the first day of operation by the New World First Ferry (NWFF) after the transfer of ferry service licences from Hongkong and Yaumati Ferry (HYF), a spokesman for the Transport Department said today (Saturday).

The department's Operation Co-ordination Centre (OCC) has been in operation since 10 pm last night to monitor the transfer as well as the operation of ferry services by NWFF immediately after the transfer.

Commenting on the first day operation, the spokesman said that ferry services during the peak periods both in the morning and in the early afternoon went smoothly in overall terms.

Observation teams deployed to ferry piers reported that all departures were on schedule and were able to meet passenger demand.

Although the OCC has stood down at 3 pm, the department will continue to closely monitor the provision of ferry services throughout the weekend.

The OCC will be re-activated at 5 am on Monday (January 17) morning to monitor the operation of ferry services on the first working day after the transfer of service licences from HYF to NWFF.
