Admiralty BBI Scheme to be implemented

Bus passengers from Mid-level, Wan Chai, Eastern District, Kwai Tsing and Tsuen Wan will gain benefits from a bus-bus interchange (BBI) scheme at discounted fares from next Monday (January 15) onwards if they make their interchange at Admiralty from Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) bus route 930 for Tsuen Wan Ferry and vice versa.

The scheme, to be operated by Citybus Limited (CTB) for Octopus Card users, offers a $1.5 discount for passengers making their interchange at Admiralty within 90 minutes from boarding time of the first trip.

* Bus routes covered include route 11 (Central (Central Ferry Piers) to Jardine's Lookout (Circular)),
* route 12A (Admiralty (Tamar Street) to MacDonnell Road (Circular)),
* route 12M (Admiralty (Tamar Street) to Park Road (Circular)),
* route 12S (Admiralty (Tamar Street) to Lower Peak Tram Station),
* route 511 (Central (Central Ferry Pier) to Jardine's Lookout (Circular))(morning peak only),
* route 789 (Siu Sai Wan to Admiralty (Circular)) and WHT bus route 930 (Admiralty MTR Station (West) to Tsuen Wan Ferry).
* Unveiling details of the BBI Scheme today (January 10), a spokesman for the Transport Department said this would be the 7th BBI scheme introduced since March last year.

He said: "We have introduced BBI at Kwun Tong Road, Causeway Road, Western Harbour Crossing Toll Plaza, Wan Chai Ferry Pier, Tin Shui Wai Town Centre and Tate's Cairn Tunnel."

"The schemes are well-received by the public at large as passengers are given a wider bus network with more choices of bus routes at concessionary fares.

"Given the limited road space in Hong Kong, introduction of BBI schemes will be a core measure in the future development of franchised bus services. These schemes help reduce unnecessary duplication caused by point-to-point services and minimise the need for long haul bus routes.

"We believe BBI schemes will help improve bus efficiency, ease traffic at busy corridors and provide better environment," he added.
