Steering Committee Promoting Public Light Bus Service Quality Formed

A number of projects promoting the quality of public light bus (PLB) services are in the pipeline and will be launched in the later half of this year.

These include a PLB Passenger Satisfaction Survey, workshops for PLB operators, a newsletter on PLB services and a Quality PLB Driver Award Scheme.

Speaking after the first meeting of the Ad hoc Quality PLB Services Steering Committee (QPSSC) today (June 22), the Chairman of the Committee, Mr Yeung Ka-sing said the above projects aimed to raise the quality of PLB services and promote the image of the trade.

As a first step, a PLB Passenger Satisfaction Survey will be conducted this year to gauge the quality of PLB services and performance of PLB operators and drivers.

"The survey will let us know better what constitutes quality PLB services in the public's eyes for use as a service benchmark.

"It will point the ways for future changes to PLB operations for improving service quality to meet passengers' expectations," Mr Yeung said.

"The results will also be useful for us to work out details of other incentives," he added.

On organising the workshops for PLB operators, Mr Yeung said that the theme of the first series of workshop is to promote awareness among operators on importance of management to improve the quality of PLB services.

"A Chinese newsletter will also be published on a half-yearly basis, with the inaugural issue to be released around year end to further disseminate the message of quality PLB services within the trade," he added.

The QPSSC comprises representatives from the PLB trade associations, Transport Bureau, Transport Department, Police Force, District Councils, Hong Kong Tourism Board and the Consumer Council.
