TD accepts Citybus report

The Transport Department has studied the report submitted by Citybus about the incident happened on January 7, 2001 on Citybus route number 11.

The report stated that an investigation had been made on the incident by the management of the company. The conclusion was that the incident was caused by the uncooperative attitude of the driver of the Rt 11 bus and the over-zealousness of the officer who took over the driving duty from the driver. The report also stated that the management considered that the taking over action as inappropriate under the circumstances and would administer appropriate disciplinary action against the staff concerned.

The report said after a review of the current guidelines, the Company had undertaken to issue clearer instructions on situations that warrant the change of drivers during mid-way of a bus journey. It would also require any change over of driver to be authorized by the Control Centre and all non-uniform staff to wear uniform when performing bus driving duties.

A spokesman for the Department said the report was acceptable as it had given an account of the incident and recommended remedial measures to avoid recurrence of similar incidents.

"It is always our objective to improve bus efficiency and safety through regular reviews," the spokesman said.
