Extended nomination period for the Quality Taxi Driver Award 2000

Taxi passengers and tourists are given more time to show their recognition of good services rendered by taxi drivers and to encourage them to continue the delivery of quality services.

The nomination period of the Quality Taxi Driver Award 2000 has been extended for one month until March 26, 2000. The award scheme is jointly organized by the Ad hoc Quality Taxi Services Steering Committee, Transport Department and taxi associations. It was launched on January 26 this year.

The award scheme aims at giving taxi drivers incentives to keep up the provision of professional taxi services and to brush up taxi service quality.

Taxi passengers and tourists are welcome to nominate taxi drivers to compete for the award during the nomination period by filling in a simple nomination form which can be obtained from the licensing offices of Transport Department, district offices, tourist information centers of the Hong Kong Tourist Association.

The form is also available for download at Transport Department's home page (http://www.info.gov.hk/td).

Staff of Transport Department will also distribute the nomination form to taxi passengers direct at the following taxi stands during morning peak hours, at noon and evening peak hours:

* Yuen Long Hong King Street/Sai Yu Street
* The Airport

Completed nomination forms, together with the relevant taxi fare receipts, should be returned to Transport Department by mail or by fax (no. 2824 2176) on or before March 26 this year.
