Ancillary Road Works at LRT Junction to Improve Pedestrian Safety

The Government has proposed to execute the ancillary road works of grade separation at Light Rail Transit (LRT) Junction LT1 at Tsing Lun Road, Tuen Mun to improve the safety of pedestrians crossing the junction.

Notice of the works was published in the Government Gazette today (August 17).

The proposed works include the construction of a covered footbridge with two passenger lifts across Tsing Lun Road at LRT Junction LT1 to replace the existing at-grade pedestrian crossing; construction of footpaths connecting the footbridge to the existing footpaths at Tsing Lun Road and Ng Lau Road; and the associated drainage works.

To facilitate works, the existing at-grade pedestrian crossing will be closed permanently and alternative carriageways and footpaths will be provided as and when necessary.

The plan and scheme of the works are available for free inspection from 9 am to 4.30 pm from Mondays to Fridays and from 9 am to 12 noon on Saturdays at the following places:

* Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Ground Floor, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central;
* Tuen Mun District Office, Second Floor, Tuen Mun Government Offices, 1 Tuen Hi Road; and
* Tuen Mun District Lands Office, Sixth Floor, Tuen Mun Government Offices.

Meanwhile, a separate notice in respect of modification to the Light Rail at the junction of Tsing Lun Road as referred above is gazetted under the Railways Ordinance concurrently with this Notice.

Enquiries on the proposed works can be addressed to the New Territories Region of Highways Department, Second Floor, Ho Man Tin Government Offices, 88 Chung Hau Street, Kowloon (Tel.: 2716 1544).

Any person who wishes to object to the works is required to address his written objection to the Secretary for Transport, 16th Floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Central on or before October 16, 2001, describing his interest and the manner in which he alleges that he will be affected by the works.
