Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements for National Day Fireworks Display

To facilitate the National Day fireworks display to be held next Monday (October 1), the Transport Department will implement special traffic and transport measures. Public transport services will also have special arrangements.

On Hong Kong Island, temporary road closure will be implemented starting 8.30 pm at Peak area, Central, Wan Chai north and Wan Chai south. The affected roads will be re-opened until the situations are considered safe by the Police.

Moreover, temporary closure of the following roads will be implemented 10 minutes before the fireworks display finishes (about 10.13 pm):

* Fleming Road between Lockhart Road and Hennessy Road;
* Lockhart Road between Percival Street and Fenwick Street;
* Luard Road between Hennessy Road and Jaffe Road;
* traffic on Percival Street southbound cannot turn right onto Lockhart Road westbound; and
* traffic on Hennessy Road eastbound cannot turn left onto Canal Road West northbound.

In Kowloon, some road sections of Tsim Sha Tsui and Jordan will implement road closure and traffic diversions in five phases from 6 pm.

Concerning public transport services, the Mass Transit Railway will provide overnight train services (except Airport Express Line) on October 1 with details as follows:

* Island Line
  * a three minutes headway will be operated from 7.27 pm to 11.27 pm;
  * a four minutes headway will be operated from 11.27 pm to 12.54 am;
  * a five minutes headway will be operated from 12.54 am to 3.03 am; and
  * a 10 minutes headway will be operated from 3.03 am to 6 am
* Tsuen Wan Line
  * a three minutes headway will be operated from 7.28 pm to 11.29 pm;
  * a four minutes headway will be operated from 11.29 pm to 12.52 am;
  * a five minutes headway will be operated from 12.52 am to 3.03 am; and
  * a 10 minutes headway will be operated from 3.03 am to 6 am
* Kwun Tong Line
  * a three minutes headway will be operated from 7.28 pm to 11.30 pm;
  * a four minutes headway will be operated from 11.30 pm to 12.52 am;
  * a five minutes headway will be operated from 12.52 am to 3.05 am; and
  * a 10 minutes headway will be operated from 3.05 am to 6 am
* Tung Chung Line
  * a five minutes headway will be operated between Hong Kong and Tsing Yi from 7.30 pm to 11.30 pm
  * a 10 minutes headway will be operated between Hong Kong and Tung Chung from 7.30 pm to 1.00 am
  * a 12 minutes headway will be operated between Hong Kong and Tung Chung from 1 am to 6 am

The northbound trains of East Rail running between Hung Hom and Sheung Shui will be strengthened to 3.5 minutes headway from 10.25 pm on October 1 to mid-night to cater for passenger demand. Train services will be extended to 2.00 am on October 2.

Light Rail Transit will extend services to 1.00 am on October 2; Hong Kong Tramways to 3.12 am on October 2; and Peak tram will strengthen the frequency from 7 to 15 minutes, subject to traffic demand.

On bus service, New World First Bus and CityBus will operate three special routes 15X, N15 and N515 plying between Central and Shau Kei Wan to the Peak.

Part of the outlying islands services by the New World First Ferry, Discovery Bay ferry service, Star Ferry service as well as Hong Kong and Kowloon Ferry service will be suspended at the night on October 1.
