Cross-boundary shuttle bus service during coming holidays

The Transport Department today (April 28) calls on passengers who intend to take the Lok Ma Chau-Huanggang shuttle bus service during the coming weekend and on May 1 to remain patient when queuing up at the Lok Ma Chau Terminus as there may be an increase in cross-boundary passenger traffic at the Lok Ma Chau Crossing.

A spokesman for the department explained that owing to facilities available at the Lok Ma Chau Crossing, the shuttle bus service could only carry 800 passengers per hour in one direction.

He said: "If there is an upsurge in the number of passengers during the coming holidays, the waiting time for the shuttle bus service will be longer than usual.

"The waiting time may be more than two to three hours if traffic at the Lok Ma Chau Crossing is busy, in particular in the morning.

"Therefore, passengers are advised to get prepared for the situation and to remain patient."

The spokesman also calls on passengers who intend to take the shuttle bus service to avoid going to the Lok Ma Chau Terminus during morning peak period.

In addition to paying attention to TV/radio announcements on the cross-boundary traffic situation, passengers are reminded to call the shuttle bus service hotline (tel: 2471 0792) to enquire about the situation at the terminus.
