Traffic Situations on the First School Day

The Transport Department activated the Emergency Transport Co-ordination Centre (ETCC) at 6 am on the first school day today (September 1) to closely monitor the traffic and transport situations, as well as liaise with public transport operators for assurance of adequate services to meet students' demand.

So far, traffic on land and at sea is generally smooth and public transport services are generally adequate despite the amber rainstorm warning signal.

A set of traffic light signals at the junction of King's Road and Fortress Hill Road was out of order at about 7.04 am, and Traffic Police officers have attended the scene for traffic control. The signals were subsequently repaired and traffic flow at the scene remains smooth.

The ETCC will continue to monitor the traffic and transport situations throughout the territory.
