Temporary Restricted Zones Designated to Facilitate Works

The Transport Department will from April 27 to May 2, 2001 designate a number of temporary restricted zones to facilitate various types of works.

The relevant notices were published in the Government Gazette today (April 27).

With effect from 10 am on April 27, the following road sections will be designated temporary restricted zones 24 hours daily:

1.  the section of O'brien Road from its junction with Johnston Road to a point about 35 metres north of the same junction for about two months;
2.  the northern kerbside lane of Johnston Road from its junction with O'brien Road to a point about 10 metres west of the same junction for about two months;
3.  the section of Luard Road from its junction with Hennessy Road to a point about 70 metres south of the same junction for about three months;
4.  the southern kerbside lane of Lockhart Road from its junction with Fleming Road to a point about 50 metres west of the same junction for about 10 weeks;
5.  the western kerbside lane of Fleming Road from its junction with Lockhart Road to a point about 10 metres south of the same junction for about 10 weeks;
6.  the westbound carriageway of Yeung Uk Road from its junction with Ma Tau Pa Road to its junction with Chung On Street for about two months;
7.  the western kerbside lane of Hoi King Street from its junction with Foo Kwai Street to a point about 40 metres north of the same junction until July 11;
8.  the section of Cheung Wong Road from its junction with Sham Chun Road to a point about 30 metres north of the same junction until May 18;
9.  the section of Sai Yeung Choi Street South from a point about 25 metres north of its junction with Shantung Street to a point about 80 metres north of the same junction until July 15;
10.  the section of Sai Yeung Choi Street South from a point about 55 metres north of its junction with Bute Street to a point about 15 metres south of the same junction until June 30; and
11.  the section of Wing Sing Lane between Nathan Road and Arthur Street until May 11.

Moreover, the following sections will be temporarily designated a restricted zone 24 hours daily with effect from 10 am on April 28:

1.  the section of Kwong Wa Street from a point about 12 metres south of its junction with Yin Chong Street to a point about 46 metres south of the same junction until May 31; and
2.  the northern kerbside lane of Queen's Road East from a point about 35 metres east of its junction with the access road leading to Ruttonjee Hospital to a point about 80 metres east of the same junction until May 2.

With effect from April 30, the eastern kerbside lane of Cha Kwo Ling Road from a point about 75 metres south of its junction with Wing Fook Street to a point about 125 metres south of the same junction will be designated a temporary restricted zone 24 hours daily for a period of about one month.

The northern kerbside lane of Johnston Road from its junction with Luard Raod to a point about 110 metres east of the same junction; and the eastern kerbside lane of Luard Raod from its junction with Johnston Road to a point about 10 metres north of the same junction will become a restricted zones 24 hours daily with effect from 10 am on May 2.

Drivers of all motor vehicles, except franchised buses and those with permits issued by the Commissioner for Transport, will be prohibited from picking up or setting down passengers, or loading or unloading goods within the restricted zones.

The extent of the restricted zones will be indicated by appropriate traffic signs and road markings. Moreover, the existing restricted zones of the affected area, if any, will be temporarily rescinded.
