Temporary Restricted Zones Designated to Facilitate Works

The Transport Department will from April 20 to 24, 2001 designate a number of temporary restricted zones under regulation 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic (Traffic Control) Regulations, Chapter 374.

The relevant notices were published in the Government Gazette today (April 20).

With effect from 10 am on April 20, the following road sections will be designated temporary restricted zones 24 hours daily for a period of about 10 weeks to facilitate road reconstruction works:

1.  the southern kerbside lane of Lockhart Road from its junction with Fenwick Street to a point about 65 metres east of the same junction;
2.  the northern kerbside lane of Lockhart Road from a point about 10 metres east of its junction with Fenwick Street to a point about 30 metres east of the same junction; and
3.  the eastern kerbside lane of Fenwick Street from its junction with Lockhart Road to a point about five metres south of the same junction.

Moreover, with effect from 10 am on April 20, the following road sections will be designated restricted zones 24 hours daily for about one week:

1.  the northern kerbside lane of Yee Wo Street from a point about 50 metres west of its junction with Sugar Street to a point about 65 metres west of the same junction; and
2.  the northern kerbside lane of Yee Wo Street from its junction with Sugar Street to a point about 20 metres east of the same junction.

With effect from 10 am on April 20, the western kerbside lane of D'Aguillar Street from its junction with Lan Kwai Fong to a point about 55 metres north of the same junction will be temporarily designated a restricted zone 24 hours daily for about one month for cable laying works.

The southern kerbside lane of Sheung On Street from its junction with Wing Tai Road to a point about 20 metres east of the same junction will be designated a temporary restricted zone from 7 am to 7 pm daily from 10 am on April 20 to facilitate road works.

With effect from 10 am on April 23, the south kerbside lane of Sai Lau Kok Road from its junction with Wai Tsuen Road to a point about 360 metres west of the same junction will be temporarily designated a restricted zone from 7 am to 7 pm daily for about one week to facilitate road resurfacing works.

The western kerbside lane of Tung Lo Wan Road from a point about 45 metres south of its junction with Causeway Road to a point about 90 metres south of the same junction will be designated a temporary restricted zone 24 hours daily with effect from 10 am on April 24 for about one month to facilitate drainage works.

Drivers of all motor vehicles, except franchised buses and those with permits issued by the Commissioner for Transport, will be prohibited from picking up or setting down passengers, or loading or unloading goods within the restricted zones.

The extent of the restricted zones will be indicated by appropriate traffic signs and road markings. Moreover, the existing restricted zones of the affected area, if any, will be temporarily rescinded.
