Two Bids Received on Tuen Mun - Chek Lap Kok Ferry Service

The Transport Department (TD) received two bids in respect of the operation of the Tuen Mun - Chek Lap Kok ferry service as at the close of tender today (May 11).

The service was provided by Airport Ferry Services Ltd., which had not renewed the license due to the declining patronage and heavy financial losses.

A spokesman for the department said the two bids would be scrutinised by a tender assessment committee on the basis of the following criteria:

	the proposed service level;
	the proposed fare;
	the quality of ferry and passenger facilities; and
	the corporate and financial capability.

The committee will consist of representatives from Marine Department, Home Affairs Department, Civil Engineering Department and TD.

Tender result will be announced in early June.
