Temporary Restricted Zones Designated to Facilitate Works

The Transport Department will from May 11 to June 8, 2001 designate a number of restricted zones to facilitate various types of works.

The relevant notices were published in the Government Gazette today (May 11).

The following sections will be designated restricted zones with effect from 10 am on May 11:

* the eastern kerbside lane of Matheson Street from a point about 30 metres north of its junction with Leighton Road to a point about 45 metres north of the same junction from 7 am to 12 midnight daily; and
* the eastern kerbside lane of Matheson Street from its junction with Leighton Road to a point about 10 metres north of the same junction 24 hours daily.

With effect from 10 am on May 11, the following road sections will be designated temporary restricted zones 24 hours daily for a period of about three months:

* the southern kerbside lane of Gloucester Road service road from its junction with Fenwick Street to a point about 60 metres west of the same junction (except the lay-by); and
* the southern kerbside lane of Gloucester Road service road from a point about 60 metres west of its junction with Fenwick Street to a point about 75 metres west of the same junction.

Besides, the southern kerbside lane of Kin Wing Street between Tsun Wen Road and Kin Tai Street will be temporarily designated a restricted zone 24 hours daily for a period of about two weeks with effect from May 11.

With effect from May 11, the following sections of roads in Shau Kei Wan will continue to be designated restricted zones 24 hours daily for a period of about two months:

* the northern kerbside lane of Tung Hei Road from its junction with Aldrich Bay Road to a point about 45 metres east of the same junction;
* the southern kerbside lane of Tung Hei Road from its junction with Mong Lung Street to a point about 50 metres east of the same junction;
* the northern kerbside lane of Aldrich Bay Road from its junction with Tung Hei Road to a point about 90 metres west of the same junction;
* the eastern kerbside lane of Mong Lung Street from its junction with Tung Hei Road to a point about 70 metres south of the same junction; and
* the western kerbside lane of Mong Lung Street from its junction with Tung Hei Road to a point about 50 metres south of the same junction.

The western kerbside lane of Reclamation Street from its junction with Dundas Street to a point about 65 metres north of the same junction will be designated restricted zones from 7 am to 7 pm daily from 10 am on May 11 to 27.

With effect from 10 am on May 11 to June 1, the following sections of roads in Mong Kok will be designated restricted zones 24 hours daily:

* the section of Changsha Street from a point about 15 metres east of its junction with Portland Street to a point about 25 metres west of the same junction;
* the eastern kerbside lane of Portland Street from a point about 25 metres north of its junction with Changsha Street to a point about 25 metres south of the same junction; and
* the western kerbside lane of Portland Street from a point about 20 metres north of its junction with Changsha Street to a point about 25 metres south of the same junction excluding the public light bus stands.

With effect from May 11 to June 10, the section of Elm Street from its junction with Ivy Street to a point about 65 metres south of the same junction will continue to be temporarily designated a restricted zone 24 hours daily.

The section of Sycamore Street from its junction with Maple Street to a point about 35 metres south of the same junction will be designated a restricted zone 24 hours daily with effect from 10 am on May 11 to June 11.

From 10 am on May 11, the following road sections on Hing Fong Road will be designated restricted zones from 7 am to 12 midnight daily for a period of about six weeks:

* the Western kerbside lane of Hing Fong Raad between its junction with Wing Fong Road and a point about 85 metres north of the same junction; and
* the eastern kerbside land of Hing Fong Road between its junction with access road to Kwai Fong Estate and a point about 90 metres south of the same junction.

With effect from 10 am on May 11 to June 30, the following road sections in Mong Kok will be designated restricted zones 24 hours daily:

* the section of Canton Road from its junction with Shantung Street to a point about 45 metres south of the same junction;
* the section of Shantung Street from its junction with Canton Road to a point about 15 metres east of the same junction;
* the northern kerbside lane of Shantung Street between Canton Road and Thistle Street; and
* the southern kerbside lane of Shantung Street from its junction with Canton Road to a point about 10 metres west of the same junction.

With effect from 10 am on May 11 to September 30, the following sections of roads in Mong Kok will be designated restricted zones from 7 am to 12 midnight daily:

* the eastern kerbside lane of Yim Po Fong Street between Soy Street and Waterloo Road;
* the northern kerbside lane of Waterloo Road from its junction with Yim Po Fong Street to a point about 35 metres east of the same junction; and
* the western kerbside lane of Yim Po Fong Street between Waterloo Road and Kwong Wa Street.

The southern kerbside lane of Yeung Uk Road from its junction with Tai Ho Road to a point about 110 metres east of the same junction will continue to be designated a restricted zone 24 hours daily for a period of about six weeks with effect from 10 am on May 12.

From May 18 to July 11, the following sections of roads in Tai Kok Tsui will continue to be designated restricted zones 24 hours daily:

* the section of Hoi King Street from its junction with Foo Kwai Street to a point about 15 metres south of the same junction;
* the section of Foo Kwai Street from its junction with Hoi King Street to a point about 20 metres east of the same junction; and
* the eastern kerbside lane of Hoi King Street from its junction with Foo Kwai Street to a point about 40 metres north of the same junction.

The eastern kerbside lane of Reclamation Street from its junction with Dundas Street to a point about 65 metres north of the same junction will be designated restricted zones from 7 am to 7 pm daily from 10 am on May 28 to June 7.

The eastern kerbside lane of Reclamation Street from its junction with Soy Street to a point about 55 metres south of the same junction will be designated restricted zones from 7 am to 7 pm daily from 10 am on June 8 to 19.

Drivers of all motor vehicles, except franchised buses and those with permits issued by the Commissioner for Transport, will be prohibited from picking up or setting down passengers, or loading or unloading goods within the restricted zones.

The extent of the restricted zones will be indicated by appropriate traffic signs and road markings. Moreover, the existing restricted zones of the affected area, if any, will be temporarily rescinded.

Meanwhile, the westbound carriageway of Ma On Sha Road from a point about 410 metres west of its junction with Hang Hong Street to a point about 690 metres west of the same junction will be subjected to a speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour with effect from 10 am on May 11.

Appropriate traffic signs will be erected to guide motorists and the existing speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour on the above carriageway will be rescinded.
