Opening of the Discovery Bay Tunnel Link

The Discovery Bay Tunnel Link will be open to traffic starting 8:30 am tomorrow (May 27).

To keep the environment of the Discovery Bay relatively free from pollution and traffic, only public buses operating authorised residents' services and goods vehicles engaging in goods delivery or other services are allowed to use the tunnel.

Private cars and taxis are prohibited from entering Discovery Bay via the Tunnel Link.

The Discovery Bay Tunnel, a single tube two-way tunnel, is a private road tunnel built and to be maintained and operated by the Discovery Bay Road Tunnel Company Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the developer of Discovery Bay, Hong Kong Resort Company Ltd.

Also effective from the same day is the company's two working days pre-booking requirement for vehicles intended to use the Tunnel Link.

Two authorised external RS routes plying between Discovery Bay and Tung Chung at a 20-30 headway and a $8 fare and between Discovery Bay and Airport at a 30-60 minutes headway and a charge of $28 per person will also be introduced respectively.

Enquiries may be addressed to Discovery Bay Road Tunnel Company Limited at 2980 6800 during office hours between 9 am and 5 pm.
