Public transport strengthened for extended boundary hours

Members of the public heading for the mainland are reminded that boundary opening hours at Lowu and Lok Ma Chau will be extended from tomorrow (December 1) with both checkpoints operating between 6.30 am and midnight.

A government spokesperson said: "Public transport services will be strengthened from tomorrow in tandem with the extended boundary opening hours."

At Lok Ma Chau*

KMB No.277 (Lok Ma Chau PTI, San Tin - Yuen Long (West))

The first bus from Yuen Long (West) will depart at 6.00 am, while the last departure from Lok Ma Chau PTI will be at 12 midnight. The bus frequency will maintain at 15 minutes during the extended period of operation.

GMB Route No. 77 (Lok Ma Chau PTI, San Tin - Tin Shui Wai)

The first and last departures will depart at 6 am and 10.30 pm respectively from Tin Shui Wai while the first and last departures from Lok Ma Chau PTI will depart at 6.50 am and 12 midnight respectively. The basic frequency will maintain at 15-20 minutes during the extended period of operation.

GMB Route No. 44B (Lok Ma Chau PTI, San Tin - Tuen Mun Ferry Pier) (circular route)

The first departure from Tuen Mun Ferry Pier will depart at 5.45 am and the last departure from Lok Ma Chau PTI will depart at 12 midnight. The basic frequency will maintain at 20-30 minutes during the extended period of operation.

Due to the limited carrying capacity of the shuttle bus, passengers are advised not to arrive late at the Lok Ma Chau PTI. The last few bus departures may not be able to take up all passengers if there are already many passengers waiting there.

Passengers should plan their journeys early and pay attention to the notice about the clearance time of the queue so that they may decide to shift to other modes for boundary crossing in time.

At Lo Wu

Passengers may make use of the following strengthened KMB services after taking KCR trains:

* KMB route 276 (Tin Shui Wai Town Centre - Sheung Shui KCR Station): Last departure from Sheung Shui at 1 am.
* KMB route 276A (Tin Heng - Sheung Shui): Last departure from Sheung Shui at 1 am.
* KMB route K17 (Fu Shin - Tai Po KCR Station) and KMB route K18 (Kwong Fuk - Tai Po KCR Station): Last departure from Tai Po KCR at 1 am.
* KMB Route 87K (University KCR Station - Lee On Bus Terminus): Last departure from University KCR Station at 1.05 am.

Passengers may also make use of the taxi service at taxi stands located at the Lok Ma Chau PTI and various KCR stations.
