Temporary Pedestrian Scheme on Lion Rock Road to Start Tomorrow

The Transport Department (TD) announces that a temporary part-time pedestrian scheme on Lion Rock Road facilitating the Kowloon City District Festival will take effect from tomorrow (November 24).

From November 24 to December 31, 2001, the section of Lion Rock Road between Carpenter Road and Nga Tsin Wai Road, Kowloon City will be designated as a temporary pedestrian zone from 3 pm to 10 pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Temporary traffic arrangements on the pedestrianised street will be implemented as follows during the aforesaid period.

* Vehicles on Carpenter Road will be prohibited from turning onto Lion Rock Road southbound;
* all metered parking spaces on Lion Rock Road between Carpenter Road and Nga Tsin Wai Road will be suspended from 12 noon to 10 pm during the pedestrianisation hours; and
* seven metered parking spaces on Nga Tsin Long Road outside Lee Kee Memorial Dispensary will also be suspended. Details of the arrangements will be put up by the Police on site.

The terminus for GMB Route 69 (Laguna City !V Kowloon City (Lion Rock Road)) on Lion Rock Road will be temporarily relocated to house no. 78 Nga Tsin Long Road. The Laguna City bound service will be diverted via Nga Tsin Long Road, Nga Tsin Wai Road and Lion Rock Road before resuming the original routeing.

A TD spokesman reminded motorists to pay attention to the traffic signs on site.

All illegal parking will be towed away by the Police without prior warning, he said.
