Special Transport Arrangements for Viewing Meteor Shower

The Transport Department (TD) today (November 16) reminded members of the public that public transport services to the rural areas and The Peak will be strengthened from tomorrow (November 17) to November 19 to facilitate the viewing of Leonids Meteor Shower.

TD also advised viewers to use public transport to avoid congestion on roads to the rural areas and The Peak.

Details of the arrangements are as follows:

* Introduction of special bus routes
 
  * NWFB Route N9 plying between Shau Kei Wan and Shek O will be operated from 1.10 am to 5.50 am. on November 19 at a frequency of 10 minutes. The full fare is $7.50.
  * NWFB Route N15 plying between Central (Exchange Square) and The Peak will be operated from 12.25 am to 2.25 am on November 19 at a frequency of 15 minutes. The full fare is $10.
  * A unidirectional special bus route CTB Route N6X from Stanley Prison (via Aberdeen Tunnel) to Central (Exchange Square) will be operated at 3 am and 3.30 am on November 19. The full fare is $12.50.
  * KMB Route N293 will be operated between Ngau Tau Kok (Amoy Garden) and Clear Water Bay from November 17 to 19. Services from Amoy Garden will be available from 12 midnight to 1.15 am. Services from Clear Water Bay will be available in two sessions from 1.45am to 2.30am and 5 am to 5.30 am. Service frequency will be 15 minutes and the full fare is $8.60.
 
The frequency and hours of operation of these special bus services may be adjusted to cope with passenger demand and traffic conditions.

Strengthened bus services

CTB Routes 6, 6X & 260 and NWFB Routes 9, 309, 14, 15, 63, 64, 65 & 66 will be strengthened subject to demand and weather.

Temporary relocation of bus terminus

The existing bus terminus for NWFB 9 and N9 on Shek O Road will be temporarily relocated to Shek O Beach Public Carpark from 9 pm on November 18 to 7 am on November 19. In this connection, the 15 non-metered parking spaces next to the covered walkway at Shek O Public Beach Public Carpark will be temporarily suspended and used as temporary bus terminus for NWFB 9 and N9.
