Special festival traffic and transport arrangements in Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery

Special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented on the roads near Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery to safeguard public safety because of the large number of grave sweepers who will go there during the Chung Yeung Festival.

A Transport Department spokesman said road closure measures during the Chung Yeung Festival would be similar to previous arrangements. The access road leading to the cemetery will be closed to all vehicular traffic, except emergency vehicles, between 5.30am and 8pm on Sunday, October 17 and on October 22 (the day of Chung Yeung Festival).

In addition, a general road closure will be implemented on September 26, October 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 23, 24, 30 and 31, and November 6 and 7 from 5.30am to 6pm. All vehicles, except KMB special bus Route No. 14S, emergency vehicles, hearses, vehicles in funeral processions and vehicles possessing permit issued by that cemetery, are prohibited from using the access road leading to the cemetery. KMB's special bus will provide service between 7am and 5.25pm and ply between Lei Yue Mun Road, Yau Tong and the cemetery.

The spokesman appealed to people to make full use of public transport, avoid going to the cemetery on busy days and follow the instructions of Police or other personnel on duty. If passengers want to take KMB Route No 14S, they should take note of the dates of the general road closure.
