Bus service adjustment with effect from Sunday

The Transport Department announced today (January 20) that service of KMB 87K (University KCR Station and Kam Ying Court, circular) will be strengthened from Sunday (January 23). The service will be rerouted to operate via Chung On and upgraded to a full air-conditioned service with the fare decrease from $4.2 to $3.5.

A spokesman for the department said that as Route 87K would largely cover the service area of Routes 285 (Bayshore Towers and Heng On, circular) and 287K (Ma On Shan town centre and University KCR Station, circular), the services of the two latter routes would be stopped with effect from the same day.

Three special trips numbered as Route 87P will operate from Lee On to Heng On at 7.12am, 7.35am and 7.45am on weekdays for the convenience of the original passengers of Route 285. In addition, new GMB Route 807A (Ma On Shan town centre and University KCR Station) will start providing service from January 23 at a fare of $3.50.

The spokesman said: "We observe that since the commissioning of Ma On Shan Rail from December 2004, passengers' transport habits have changed. Hence, we will implement in phases the public transport plan, which was drawn up in consultation with the local community last year.

"Relevant transport operators will post notices at housing estate terminuses, bus stops and inside bus compartments to inform passengers of the adjustments," he noted.

Members of the public can obtain details of the adjustment from Citizens' Link 1823 and the Transport Department website
