Cross-boundary goods vehicle closed road permit new arrangement

The Transport Department (TD) announced today (March 12) that from March 16, cross-boundary goods vehicles that are allowed to use more than one boundary crossing can apply for a Closed Road Permit (CRP) for multi-crossings instead of different CRPs for different crossings.

The move is to facilitate cross-boundary freight transport.

"To tie in with the implementation of the new arrangement, a new multi-crossing CRP with the names of approved crossings has been designed. The fee for the new multi-crossing CRP will remain at the current rate of $456 per annum," a department spokesman said.

"Goods vehicles that are allowed to use more than one crossing, will be issued with a new multi-crossing CRP upon new application or renewal of any of their CRPs, and the other un-expired CRP(s) will have to be returned to the department. The format of the current CRPs for goods vehicles that are allowed to use one crossing only will remain unchanged," he said.

The revised application forms for new issuance and renewal of CRPs, together with the guidance notes, can be downloaded from TD's website from March 16. They are also available at the following TD offices:
