Transport Department reminds passengers to allow more time for boundary crossing

The Transport Department today (August 20) reminded cross-boundary travellers that more passengers were expected to use the cross-boundary coach services operating via Lok Ma Chau and Huanggang control points in the coming weekend and that the rush was expected to start this afternoon.

During the busy periods, passengers, particularly those using popular routes like Mong Kok and Tsuen Wan, may need to spend more time waiting for the coach and to queue up for boarding. They are reminded to be patient and to allow more time to travel. In addition, passengers are advised to plan their journey in advance and consider using alternative transport services to travel to/from the Mainland to avoid the crowd.

The Transport Department has asked the coach service operators to mobilise additional resources to meet a sudden surge in demand. At the same time, the Emergency Transport Coordination Centre as well as the Joint Operation Centre at Lok Ma Chau will be activated to monitor the operation and to respond to contingencies.
