Serious congestion expected at Tai Po Road

Traffic between Kowloon and Sha Tin via Tai Po Road will be extremely congested this evening (May 19) due to urgent road repairs works at Tai Po Road near Tai Wai New Village.

Traffic is now operating one lane two ways and queues are building up at 4 pm. The queue length is about 500 metre both bounds, one near Sha Tin Heights Road (NT bound) and the other near its junction with Shing Chuen Road (Kowloon bound)

As the lane may remain closed until tomorrow, traffic on Tai Po Road between Kowloon and Sha Tin will be very congested from this evening. Motorists are advised to avoid using Tai Po Road and use alternative Shing Mun, Lion Rock or Tate's Cairn tunnels.

Motorists are advised to follow the instructions given by traffic police on site.  The Transport Department will continue to monitor the traffic condition and give advice as appropriate.
