TD reminds motorists to avoid using Tai Po Road

Transport Department reminded members of the public that traffic between Kowloon and Sha Tin via Tai Po Road has been congested this evening peak owing to urgent road repairs works at Tai Po Road near Tai Wai New Village which turned traffic to operate one lane two ways since this afternoon.

As the lane may remain closed tomorrow morning and because of the much reduced capacity of the road, motorists are advised to avoid using Tai Po Road, in particular from West Kowloon and use alternative Shing Mun, Lion Rock or Tate’ s Cairn tunnels if they do not want their journey time to be seriously affected.

Motorists are advised to follow the instructions given by traffic police on site and listen to latest broadcast of traffic conditions.

Frequency and journey time of franchised bus services of KMB Routes no 72, 81 and 86 B will be affected by the congestion on Tai Po Road. Passengers are advised to be patient or if possible change to KCR East Rail.
