Commissioner for Transport promotes seatbelts on public light buses

Commissioner for Transport, Mr Robert Footman, today (July 28) called at a Green Minibus station in Central to promote the new seatbelt legislation of public light bus (PLB) which will take effect from August 1 (Sunday).

Mr Footman got on a PLB equipped with seatbelts and high back seats and demonstrated how the seatbelt should be worn. He also put the sticker inside the PLB and took photos with the mascot of the Road Safety Symbol which is the ambassador to promote the newly developed vision of "Zero Accidents on the Road, Hong Kong's Goal". He also distributed leaflets to PLB drivers and passengers.

The legislation requires PLB passengers to wear seatbelts when provided. Passengers are given two weeks' grace period to get used to the new legislation.
