TD's advice to public under inclement weather (round up of the day at 9 pm)

    The Transport Department (TD) advised members of the public to pay attention to announcements   of radio and TV stations for the latest transport and traffic news in the coming one or two days as traffic and transport in the territory had been affected by the inclement weather.

    They were also advised to avoid areas that had been affected.  Motorists should drive with care and patience, and pay attention to the road signs.

    Landslips have caused some roads on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories to had been closed.  The closure of Tung Chung Road would remain for the coming one or two days and residents were advised to plan for their journeys and use alternative routes.

    Subject to weather condition tomorrow (August 21), New World First Ferry “ Tai O-Tung Chung-Tuen Mun” ferry service might be resumed.  In event that the ferry service could be resumed, New World First Ferry would operate an additional sailing from Tai O to Tung Chung and Tuen Mun at 7.30 a.m..

    The following section of roads were still being affected as at 9 p.m. :

Hong Kong Island -

*Victoria Road, both bound near House No. 212 near Sandy Bay Road;

*Shouson Hill Road near No.18A, all lanes near Island Road and HK Country Club were closed to traffic;

*Tai Hang Road near Mt Butler Road and Broadwood road, all lanes;

*Middle Gap Road (north bound) near Stubbs Road- one-lane-two-way.

Kowloon -

*Slow lane of Wylie Road Hung Hom-bound near Wylie Path;

New Territories -

*Both bounds of Route Twisk near Kwong Pan Tin Tsuen;

Outlying Islands -

*Tung Chung Road, all lanes near Shek Mum Kap;

* South Lantau Road, all lanes between Tong Fuk and Cheung Sha .

As Tung Chung Road would continue to be closed.  Members of the public were advised to use NWFF Central-Mui Wo service.
