Traffic situation update 2

The Transport Department announced today (August 21) that, as at 5pm, South Lantau Road near Tong Fuk, and Tung Chung Road near Shek Mun Gap remained closed to all traffic due to landslide yesterday.

New Lantau Bus route no. 1 could only provide limited service between Mui Wo and Cheung Sha, and between Tong Fuk and Tai O.

Due to landslide yesterday, Route Twisk in New Territories and Victoria Road near Sandy Bay Road on Hong Kong Island were still closed to all traffic.

One-lane-two-way traffic is implemented on Tai Hang Road between Mount Butler Road and Broadwood Road due to landslide; while Tai Hang Drive was reopened to all traffic since about 3.45pm today.

New World First Ferry's Tai O – Tung Chung - Tuen Mun ferry service has resumed normal. Kai To service between Mui Wo and Nim Shue Wan resumed operation this morning. Special shuttle service between Nim Shue Wan and Discovery Bay ferry pier also started operation this morning.

While relevant works departments are still working hard to clear the blockage, the progress are affected by the instable slope conditions and weather. It is expected that road closures will continue for some more time.

The department is closely monitoring the traffic. People are advised to pay attention to radio/TV announcements on the most updated traffic situations.
