C for T and D Hy inspect Route Twisk

    Landslips have affected a number of road sections over the territory and in order to get the first hand information of the road conditions, Commissioner for Transport, Mr Alan Chi Kong Wong, this (August 21) afternoon inspected sections of Route Twisk which have been closed to traffic due to landslips.

    Accompanied by the Director of Highways, Mr Mak Chai Kong; Deputy Commissioner for Transport (Planning and Technical Services), Mr Lau Ka Keung; and Acting Deputy Commissioner for Transport (Transport Services Management) , Mr Stephen Ip Man Kong,  Mr Wong visited the section of road near Kwong Pang Tin Tsuen. He was told that owing to the loss of soil under the road surface, the road could not be reopened to traffic until stabilisation works had been completed.

    Mr Wong and Mr Mak later inspected another road section at Route Twisk near Tsuen Kam Au where temporary stabilisation works was underway. The section affected by landslip was targeted to be reopened one lane two way before tomorrow (August 22).

    The Transport Department activated its Emergency Transport Coordination Centre to monitor the traffic and transport situations under the inclement weather.
