Round up of traffic situation in the territory as at 5pm

Bus service on Lantau has resumed after the implementation of one-lane-two-way traffic on Tung Chung Road near Shek Mun Gap from  2.16pm today (August 22) and the section of south Lantau Road between Tong Fuk and Cheung Sha shortly after 10pm yesterday (August 21).

The two road sections on Lantau were closed due to landslides last Saturday.

Due to the road reopening, ferry services by New World First Ferry between Tung Chung and Tai O will resume as normal tomorrow (August 23).

Meanwhile, the middle and slow lanes of inner Gloucester Road Central bound near Paterson Street, closed this morning due to burst watermains, have been re-opened since 12.10pm to all traffic. Affected bus routes resumed normal accordingly.

The following road sections were still being affected as at 5pm:

At Route Twisk, a section between Tsuen Kam Interchange and Fu Yung Shan Road was reopened at 9.25pm last night. GMB Rt. No 80 resumed service between Tsuen Wan (Chuen Lung Street) and Route Twisk (Kwong Pan Tin Chuen) last night. One-lane-two-way operation was implemented at a short section at Tsuen Kam Au from 5 o'clock this morning.

However, the section between Cliveden/ Cairnhill and Kwong Pan Tin Chuen is still closed.

Sections of Victoria Road near Sandy Bay Road and near Mount Davis Path are implementing one-lane-two-way traffic, the same to Tai Hang Road between Mt. Butler Road and Broadwood Road.

The Transport Department (TD) advised people to pay attention to announcements of radio and TV stations for the latest transport and traffic news tomorrow, as traffic and transport in some areas will still be affected by road closures.

Relevant works departments are working hard for an earlier reopening of the road sections affected by the landslides.

TD will continue to closely monitor traffic and keep the public informed of the latest situations.

Public enquiries can be made at the TD hotline 2804 2600.
